Waterstock (June 11, Erin Fairgrounds) could be a tipping point in the campaign to Say No To Nestlé
In 3 days we begin the one month countdown to Waterstock. Did you see the announcement that Jim Cuddy and a stellar line up of musicians are going to entertain everyone? Michael Stadtlander and an equally stellar line up of chefs are going to feed us. There will be craft beer, local wine, and of course water to quench our thirst. All this for a $10 ticket!
And most important …. this is a political event. Waterstock is the rallying point to send a strong message to Premier Wynne to protect our water against corporate control and exploitation.
Inspired by the Foodstock and Soupstock events, Waterstock will be the tipping point, a ‘watershed’ moment demonstrating broad and far reaching support for the “Water for Life not Profit” campaign.
We will have inspiring speakers and actions that you can take that day. And we have a couple of surprises in store!
We have a very specific ‘ask’ of you this week – Now is the time to buy your ticket to Waterstock!
This week we have to write a cheque for $1325 as deposit on the Erin Fairgrounds – the site of Waterstock. You are planning on coming to Waterstock, it’s in your calendar and maybe you are thinking of paying when you arrive? Please help us with our cash flow and buy your ticket now! (If you are unable to attend and you can make a one-time donation to help us with this expense.)
Update on Previous Requests for Support
In the last two of our weekly campaign updates we asked you to do four things – and here is an update.
- We asked for donations to pay our $680 bill for the software that allows us to send an email to Premier and automatically copy the local MPP. You responded with donations of $1045! Thank you!!
- We asked for donations of $277.95 for postage to mail post cards and you donated $470! (The $557.05 you donated above our fund raising targets will be reserved for postage for the postcards we continue to gather).
- We asked you to contact us about distributing post cards and many of you did. As a result we distributed the remainder of our first print run of 10,000 post cards which (we believe) have been mailed to the Premier. We just received a second print run of 10,000 more cards. If you’d like post cards to hand out at a local event please reply to this email!
- We set a goal of 2000 emails to Premier Wynne. 1448 have been sent so far. If you have not done so already yourself – please send your email to Premier Wynne now.
PS If you live within driving distance of Guelph we are having a “Warm Up Mixer” on Thursday May 18 at the Bookshelf EBAR, 41 Quebec Street from 7-9 pm. You can sign up that night volunteer at Waterstock. Please RSVP for our “Warm Up Mixer”. There will be music, light snacks and a cash bar.
If you want to volunteer at Waterstock and can’t join us on the 18th you can sign up here.
